Revision task to make stepping stone progress to achievement in question 4 on the foundation paper, comparison of effect of presentational devices/features between 2 sources. I just use one source here with the idea of reminding students what we can talk about when we say presentational devices or features. Obviously we are referring to things like: font, text size, headings and titles, text boxes, logos, speech bubbles and call outs, colour and contrast, images and pictures. In this image the cartoon characters could be discussed – how do they manipulate the reader? Also, what stereotypes are reinforced?
As always, these tasks are only any good if a student has a go and then submits work for feedback, with a view to being told what they missed and how they an improve next time.
